In our country, under the initiative of the Head of State, large-scale reforms are being implemented to promote a healthy lifestyle among youth, increase physical activity, and ensure the popularity of sports. Initiatives aimed at involving the younger generation in sports, organizing their leisure time effectively, supporting talented young athletes, and raising a healthy and well-rounded generation are of paramount importance today.
Today, on May 7, as part of "Thursday – Youth Day" in the Andijan region, the "League of Babur's Descendants" sports competitions were officially launched with a total prize pool of 100 million UZS. The initiative, led by the rectors of regional higher education institutions, aims to ensure the implementation of tasks set during the video-selector meeting chaired by the President regarding priority tasks in the field of physical culture and sports.
The solemn ceremony began with the National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the opening, the regional governor (khokim) and university rectors spoke in detail about the main objectives of the competition, its significance in the lives of young people, and the expected outcomes, wishing all participants luck and great success.
Following the opening remarks, a mini-football match featuring university rectors and youth leaders officially marked the start of the tournament, which includes volleyball, football, and 3x3 basketball. The competitions will be held every Wednesday at designated university sports facilities, serving to strengthen healthy competition, increase physical activity, and develop sports culture among the youth.
