
Sports Tests "Determining the Level of Physical Fitness" Among University Students Started in Andijan
In our country, on the initiative of the head of state, large-scale reforms are being implemented aimed at increasing physical activity among youth, developing sports, and widely promoting a healthy lifestyle. These efforts serve not only to strengthen the health of the younger generation but also to create a healthy environment in society and improve the quality of life of the population.
Today, May 4, at the magnificent "Universal" sports complex of Andijan State University, a solemn opening ceremony of the 2026 season of sports tests "Determining the Level of Physical Fitness" among students of higher education institutions aged 18–29 was held to ensure the implementation of the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-5148.
The solemn ceremony was attended by the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adham Ikramov, Vice-President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Otabek Umarov, Governor of Andijan region Shuhratbek Abdurahmonov, Honored Athlete of Uzbekistan, Paris 2024 Summer Olympic champion in judo Diyora Keldiyorova, as well as rectors of higher education institutions, officials of the sports department, and representatives of the general public. Speakers at the ceremony emphasized the importance of work on increasing physical activity among youth, widely promoting a healthy lifestyle, and popularizing sports.
As noted, from May 5 to 20, students aged 18–29 in all higher education institutions will actively participate in these sports tests. To organize the process at a high level, experienced sports specialists of the region have been assigned to the universities. Within the framework of the tests, special requirements for men include a 100-meter sprint from a low start and a 3000-meter run, standing long jump, forward bend on a gymnastic bench, and pull-ups, as well as optional requirements such as a 60-meter run, push-ups, 3×10 meter shuttle run, trunk lift, and jumping rope. For women, tests include 100 and 2000-meter runs, standing long jump, forward bend on a gymnastic bench, and push-ups.
