The department was established in 2011 on the basis of the departments "Zoology" and "Biochemistry". The department is a department that trains specialists in the direction of "Biology" and trains a number of masters.

In 1931, he began working under the name "Chair of Natural Sciences". At that time, the institute had only one department of natural sciences, which trained teachers of biology and chemistry. To further improve the quality of teaching, such famous scientists as S.V. Avrintsev and S.P. Deineka, leading professors and teachers of the Fergana Pedagogical Institute at that time, were invited to the Andijan Institute.

In 1957, after the appointment of Associate Professor (later Professor) G.Kh. He paid great attention to increasing the potential of the faculty of the departments, increasing the number of specialists with academic degrees, creating new departments, and attracting young people capable of scientific work.

During this period, 1 doctoral and 5 master's theses were defended as a result of scientific research, which are aimed at the successful implementation of tasks aimed at further improving the quality of educational work.

After the institute was given the status of a university in 1992, the department was transformed into the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics. The department was headed by Academician A. Kasimov. During this period, the textbooks "Biochemistry" and "Workshop on Biochemistry" were created at the department, laboratory equipment for large-scale research on plant physiology, in particular, the creation of new varieties of cotton, which is an urgent problem for agriculture in the region, was put into practice. During his career in 1997, he conducted research on the effects of biostimulants on plants in the laboratory of "Biologically Active Substances".

Over the years, the department was headed by: the Department of Biochemistry, Academician A. Kasimov (1982-1992), Assoc. Kuchkarov K. (1992-1999), Department of Physiology and Biochemistry, Ph.D. Professor L. Saidboeva (1999-2001), Ph.D. Sheraliev A. (2001-2003), Department of Biophysics and Biochemistry, Candidate of Biological Sciences Zhurakulov G. (2003-2004), Department of Physiology and Biochemistry, Associate Professor E. Khalilov (2004-2007), Department of Biochemistry » d.b.s. Professor K. Tajiboev (2007-2011), Assoc. D.S. Tuychieva (2011-2015).

Currently, the Department of Zoology and Biochemistry is headed by Doctor of Biological Sciences. Professor A.K.Khusanov.

Currently, the department has 2 doctors of science, professors: Khoshimov O., Tazhiboev K., 6 associate professors, candidates of science, 3 associate professors, candidates of science (PhD), 2 senior lecturers and 12 teachers.

In recent years, there has been an increase in the scientific potential of the department. A. Khusanov received a Ph.D. in biological sciences, F. Yuldashev received a Ph.D. in agriculture.

In 2016, the teachers of the department F.Tukhtaboeva, K.Kuchkarova prepared a textbook "Environmental foundations of biotechnology", in 2018 teachers I.Badalkhodzhaeva, T.Madumarova prepared the textbook "Cytology", teachers A.Khusanova, I.Zokirova the textbook "Animal Ecology ", teachers I. Badalkhodzhaeva and A. Khusanova prepared a teaching aid "Laboratory workshop on parasitology".

The department has a long-term plan to increase the scientific potential and rejuvenate the department of zoology for 2016-2022 for the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel. Until 2024, it is planned to defend 4 doctoral dissertations.

Since 2015, the department has postgraduate education - doctoral studies in the specialty 03.00.06 - Zoology, since 2017 03.00.01 - biochemistry, since 2018 03.00.12 - biotechnology.

By 2016, the educational and methodological base of the department was replenished with newly acquired autoclaves, bidistillators, laminar boxes, microcenters, vacuum centrifuges, homogenizers, microtomes, microscopes, magnifiers, preparative devices.

In total, in the 2018-2019 academic year, 30 subjects will be taught at the Department of Zoology, including 22 in biology, 5 in ecology and 3 in food technology.

Currently, the department is conducting research in the following main area: "Theoretical and practical problems of protecting rare species based on the study of the fauna of the Fergana Valley, the study of species composition, distribution and life processes", approved by the meeting of the department in September (Minutes No. 2).

Additional ITI department topics:

  • “Development of methods and means of protecting corn and other tall plants from pests” 06.01.09 - Agricultural sciences;

  • “Influence of Ultradisspers Powders on Increasing Crop Yields”;

  • Metabolic changes in toxic hepatitis and ways of their acclimitization”; (Approved by the ASU Academic Council on January 22, 2014 (Minutes No. 5).

The Department of Zoology and Biochemistry conducts scientific activities in cooperation with the Department of Botany Ecology.

A circle of young entomologists is actively working at the department in order to conduct research with talented students. About 50 active members of the circle conduct scientific research on the topics “Theoretical and practical problems of protecting rare species based on the study of the fauna of the Ferghana Valley, species composition, life processes of distribution”, “Development of methods and means of protecting corn and other tall plants from pests”, “Influence ultrafine powders to increase the yield of agricultural crops”.

In the educational direction in biology, a total of 413 students study. Currently, 126 gifted students of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th courses are attached to the faculty of the department. They actively participate in foreign and domestic scientific conferences with their articles and abstracts.

To date, the department has established scientific cooperation with the Institute of Genetics and Experimental Biology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the Research Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the Research Institute of Pharmacology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute named after Nizami.

In addition, in order to increase the efficiency of training the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department, the basic doctoral student in the specialty of biochemistry, Iroda Mamatova, was sent for a one-year internship at the University of Southwest China.

According to the results of international cooperation and scientific relations with foreign countries, the teacher of the department M. Zokirovana, on the basis of the direction of the Istedod Foundation, October 1-31, 2018, studied at the advanced training course at the Leningrad State University. A.S. Pushkin. During her studies on the course, M. Zokirova took part in 2 international scientific conferences and published a scientific thesis based on the results of her research.

According to the scientific development of the associate professor of the department F. Yuldashev on the topic "New technology in the protection of corn from pests", agreements on corporate cooperation were signed with the farms "Anor", "Yuksalish bogi", "Hoshimzhon Faizli Erlari".

This academic year, together with the Department of Zoology and Biology and Ecology in one innovation group, cooperation agreements on innovation cooperation were concluded with the following organizations: Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Research Institute of Legumes, Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, SES of Andijan region , farm "Anor" of Khojaabad district.

The name of the presented innovative project: "Ways to improve the effectiveness of methods of biological control of rodent pests of corn and other food crops."
